Enough

Alright, I'm sick and tired of people who do not want to invest in renewable energy. Let's get one thing straight: global warming is real. It's happening, whether you want to admit it or not. I don't care if you think it's caused by humans (which has been scientifically proven) or it's caused by some random alteration in global climate. It threatens to throw off the balance of so many things in our world, it's not worth waiting. Climate change threatens health, food supplies, water supplies, global political alliances, economies, energy, biodiversity, and earth. While most people take the planet for granted, we must realize that it provides us with everything that we need, but cannot sustain this rate of consumption forever. Most importantly, the earth gives us two vital things: food and shelter. The more we wear out the earth, the more we will get ourselves in trouble in the future.

Energy: energy is simply the movement of electrons. Electrons power anything from your dryer to your cable box to your computer. Currently, we create most of our electrons by heating water and transforming the resultant thermal energy into mechanical energy. These are all methods of storing electrons. However, it is the chemical conversion of coal/natural gas/etc. into carbon dioxide and other products that causes global warming. Sooo let's start using solar, wind, geothermal energy. Easy! These technologies have been around for years, and once you invest in these fields further, the gains will be extraordinary. Solar energy efficiency has made huge gains in the past couple years, even without a huge market.

A few more things:

  • More drilling does not solve any problems. It would have a minimal effect on gas prices. This has been proven.
  • There is no such thing as clean coal. Those two words don't go together.
  • Biofuels are dumb. They contract the worlds food supply while still creating gases that cause climate change.
We are smarter than this. Enough already.
